American Platinum Eagle Proof coins have been issued by the United States Mint in every year since the 1997 debut of the coin series.

Design:
On the reverse of the 1 oz Proof American Platinum Eagle coins, you may find several possible designs used by the United States Mint since 1997. Throughout the program’s history, only the original design of the eagle soaring above America from Thomas D. Rogers was issued twice in the proof range.

The obverse of the Proof American Platinum Eagle coin offers a steadier design theme being the image of the Statue of Liberty’s face. It was created for the collection in 1997 by John Mercanti of the United States Mint.
