The relationship between the United States and China has been characterized by a series of economic and geopolitical tensions in recent years. With increasing uncertainty and the potential for further escalation, it is essential to analyze the potential impact on the financial markets, drawing upon insights from the previous US-China trade war that took place between the summer of 2018 and fall 2019. During this period, stocks experienced volatility while alternative assets such as gold and silver exhibited more favorable price movements. This article hypothesizes the potential repercussions of continuing tensions between the US and China, emphasizing the value of considering gold and silver as alternatives to stocks.

Background: US-China Trade War Review:

During the US-China trade war, which unfolded from the summer of 2018 to fall 2019, the global financial markets were under considerable stress. The two economic powerhouses engaged in a series of tariff escalations and retaliatory measures, causing uncertainties and disruptions in various sectors. Notably, the stock market experienced significant volatility, which prompted investors to explore alternative investment options.

Gold: A Safe Haven in Turbulent Times:

Gold has long been considered a safe haven asset during times of economic and geopolitical uncertainty. Its value tends to rise when traditional investments face headwinds. The price of gold increased by 19.74% from July 2018 to September 2019. This upward trajectory demonstrates the attractiveness of gold as an investment option during times of heightened US-China tensions.

Silver: An Alternative Asset with Potential:

Like gold, silver also holds appeal as an alternative investment during periods of economic and geopolitical turmoil. Although its price change during the previous trade war was comparatively lower, with a 7.18% increase from July 2018 to September 2019, silver’s potential as a store of value should not be overlooked. Silver often follows gold’s price movements and is influenced by similar market forces, making it an option worth considering for investors seeking diversification.

Stocks: Vulnerability Amidst Rising Tensions:

While stocks may deliver substantial returns during periods of stability and economic growth, they can become vulnerable to increased volatility when geopolitical tensions rise. During the prior trade war, the S&P 500 index, a benchmark for the US stock market, experienced a price change of 3.73% from July 2018 to September 2019. This modest increase reflects the uncertainties and fluctuations faced by equities during that period.

The Future Outlook and Considerations:

Given the historical precedent set by the previous trade war and the potential for further tensions between the US and China, investors should carefully assess their portfolios. It is advisable to consider alternative assets such as gold and silver as potential safe haven investments that can offer stability and potential appreciation in times of escalating geopolitical conflicts.

Conclusion:

As tensions between the United States and China continue to rise, the financial markets are likely to face increased volatility and uncertainty. Drawing upon the statistics from the previous US-China trade war, it is evident that alternative assets like gold and silver exhibited favorable price movements compared to stocks. Therefore, investors seeking to diversify their portfolios and mitigate risk may find value in considering gold and silver as potential alternatives to stocks in these turbulent times.

Counterfeiting is a potential problem if you purchase high value gold or silver coins. Governments that produce the coins use a variety of techniques to limit and protect their minted coins from being counterfeited which in turn protects gold buyers from fraudulent investments.

Counterfeit safeguards include:

The coin design. Coins may have an intricate design with complex details and engraving techniques that are difficult to imitate.

The mints often add other alloys to coins and that mixture which gives the weight and color to the coins is also difficult to replicate.

Some coins carry a unique serial number which assist in tracking their authenticity.

Security features ranging from microprinting to holographic images are employed and specialized authentication devices are utilized for verification purposes.

Security Features

The security features utilized have advanced significantly over the years.

Microprinting is the use of engraving techniques to create extremely precise, but very small text on the face of the coin. When used in combination with watermarks, security threads and special inks it become almost impossible for counterfeiters.

Laser etching is a technique that uses a laser beam to create the design. It’s used to create the fine details and inscriptions on coins such as the American Eagle or American Buffalo. These microscopic marking are almost impossible to imitate successfully.

DNA technology is in use at the Royal Canadian Mint. This process embeds a microscopic amount of DNA into the metal of the coins as a unique identifier. When viewed under a handheld scanner, the DNA can be verified and the coin authenticated.

Who regulates or investigates counterfeiting?

The U.S. Secret Service investigates counterfeiting in the U.S. and other governments typically have special bureaus or agencies to investigate and uncover counterfeiting operations. The exact number of counterfeits identified each year is quite difficult to determine. Paper money is more frequently imitated and the Secret Service estimates one counterfeit bill for every 10,000 bills in circulation.

The frequency of discovery depends on the skill of the counterfeiters and the effectiveness of the mints anti-counterfeiting techniques in place.

How do I protect my investment?

Smart investors buy from reputable dealers like VaultUS Gold and store their metals in safe secure locations.

You are probably hearing and reading more about digital currency and many people are worried. What exactly does that mean if the US adopts a digital currency. How does that impact me and my financial privacy? Let’s take a deeper look at what CBDC means for you, your family and your financial security.

Digital currency or CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currencies) is a possibility currently being researched and evaluated as an additional or alternative form of currency in the US.

CBDC is a digital version of the dollar backed by the Central Bank. A bit like cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, but with US government backing. CBDC’s can be used as an alternative form of payment just like physical currencies and are considered legal tender.

There are some benefits to CBDC including efficiency and lower transactions costs, increased access to financial services, facilitation of cross-border payments and other innovations. But with those potential benefits come MANY REAL concerns, including:

Loss of privacy to the individual. CBDC transactions, because they are digital, can be easily tracked and monitored, raising concerns about surveillance and privacy.

Possibility of financial censorship since government may, using digital currency tracking and access rights, exert control or censorship restricting individuals’ economic freedoms.

Allows Central Banks to exert more control over monetary policy, potentially leading to mismanagement.

Increased vulnerabilities from cyberattacks.

The US government is currently studying the options and implications for issuing CBDC in the future, so it might be a good time to examine how you can protect yourself, your family, and your financial future.

Diversify your portfolio. Diversification is a common technique to manage investment risk. Do you really feel safe right now having all your money in bank accounts or stocks? Precious metals are often used as a “safe haven” diversification strategy.

Maintain financial autonomy by maintaining physical control over your assets. When you buy physical gold and silver, that is easy to accomplish.

Up your privacy game by using tools to protect your online activities and financial transactions.

Educate yourself and prepare a plan to ease your concerns.

At VaultUS Gold, our team has been watching and studying the developments around CBDC and are fully prepared to help you understand its implications to your privacy and financial security and how to mitigate your concerns through an investment in precious metals.

When you hear people talk about the ‘spot price’ when discussing precious metals, they are referring to the current market price of one troy ounce of gold, silver, or other metal type. The supply and demand for that precious metal in the market determines that price and it is quoted in US dollars per ounce. The spot price varies throughout each day by several dollars or more within the same day.

The spot price for precious metals, in particular the gold spot price, is broadly tracked by investors, and financial analysts as an indicator of the markets. If you are considering buying gold or another precious metal, predicting the spot price rise or fall and determining an optimal time to buy gold is a challenge given the variety of factors that impact that price.

Economic factors: The overall global economy impacts the price of gold and factors such as inflation, interest rates, and currency exchange rates influence the demand and therefore the price.

Supply and demand: Like any product or commodity, the value of gold is affected by supply and demand. Changes in golds availability combined with an increase or decrease in industrial demand, impacts the price.

Geopolitical factors: Political instability and border conflicts create doubt about the global economy and typically increase the demand for gold as a hedge against risk. Understanding geopolitical events and their possible impact may help in anticipating the gold price.

For these and other reasons, a plan to buy precious metals should have a mid-to-long-term timeframe.

How does the ‘spot price’ impact my purchase of precious metals?

As we said, the spot price is the price of the metal in the market each day and is the benchmark used by dealers when they buy or sell precious metals for you. When you buy a gold coin or silver bar from a dealer, you will typically pay a higher price than the spot price due to additional costs and premiums paid to the dealer. This is often referred to as the spread.
Other factors that impact the price you pay you should ask your dealer about:

What dealer premiums are involved? These are typically to cover costs such as commissions, storage, insurance, and handling fees.

Depending on the type of product you purchase, certain coins or bars may require a higher premium due to their collectability or rarity.

What is the final dollar amount of your purchase? Some dealers will reduce their spread for higher dollar purchases.

What are the shipping and insurance costs? When you purchase online, shipping and insurance costs can add to the overall cost of the transaction.

It is critical to do your due diligence when buying gold, silver or any precious metal. Carefully consider which type of metal best fits your objectives. Compare pricing closely as those premiums can vary greatly from one dealer to another. Ask any dealer you speak to about their spreads. These are often reflected in their sales agreements, so ask for this upfront, before committing.

At VaultUS Gold, we believe in fair pricing and great service. We do not pay commissions to the sales team which means more of your money is used to buy metals. We always suggest that you check with your financial advisor before making any large asset purchase like gold and silver.

Platinum is one of the most precious and rarest metals found on earth. It possesses unique properties that make it an ideal material for use in a wide range of industrial applications which increases the worldwide demand for platinum making it a sound investment vehicle.

Industrial uses of Platinum:

Automotive industry: used in catalytic converters, a critical component of a vehicle’s exhaust system.

Petroleum industry: used as a catalyst in the refining process, where it helps to break down crude oil into useful products such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel.

Plastics industry: used to speed up the polymerization process.

Electronics Industry: used in electrical contacts and circuitry including the production of hard disk drives, where it is used as a coating material to protect the disk surface from corrosion and wear.

Chemical industry: used as a catalyst in the production of fertilizers, where it helps to convert ammonia into nitric acid.

Aerospace Industry: used as a catalyst in rocket fuel, where it helps to improve the efficiency of the combustion process and can be used as a coating material on turbines and other components, where it adds protections against corrosion and high temperatures.

Pharmaceuticals: used as a catalyst in the synthesis of drugs.

Medical industry: used in a variety of medical devices, including pacemakers, dental implants, and chemotherapy drugs and in the production of medical diagnostic tools, such as PET scanners, where it helps to detect and measure the activity of cancer cells.

Platinum is a popular choice for engagement rings and other high-end jewelry items due to its rarity, durability, and beautiful shine. It is also used in the production of watches and other luxury items.

Given that long list of industrial uses, it’s no wonder that Platinum is always in high demand.

Buying Platinum Bullion

Making an investment in any precious metal can be a wise diversification strategy for your portfolio. Investing in platinum can be a great way to take advantage of the growing market demand for platinum. There are several ways you can invest in platinum, each with its own advantages and risks.

Physical platinum: One option for investing in platinum is to purchase physical platinum bullion, bars, or coins. This can be done through a precious metals dealer that sells precious metals. Your platinum will be shipped directly to you and can be stored in a safe or a bank deposit box. There are several advantages of this type of investment including the fact that you own the metal outright and it is not impacted or reliant on the performance of a third party.

Platinum IRA: You may also purchase platinum for inclusion in your IRA investment portfolio. Purchasing platinum in this manner offers many of the same advantages, portfolio diversification, tangible, physical asset, hedge against inflation and recession.

There are some potential disadvantages to buying platinum including:

Storage: platinum requires secure storage, which can come with associated costs.

Transaction costs: Buying platinum may come with transaction costs, such as premiums over spot prices or sales taxes.

Liquidity: platinum may be less liquid than other investments, meaning it may be harder to sell when you need to liquidate your investment.

What type of Platinum should I buy?

Physical platinum is typically bought in the form of bars or coins. The choice between platinum coins and bars is really an individual preference and related to your investment goals. Bars may be a more cost-effective choice, but if you are looking to collect or own a more liquid option, than coins may be the better choice.

Platinum coins are typically minted with beautiful designs, engravings, and other unique features that make them visually attractive. For example, the Canadian Platinum Maple Leaf coin features a beautiful imagery of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and a detailed maple leaf on the reverse.
Platinum bars typically have a much simpler design that highlights the weight, purity, and mint mark of the bar as seen on this bar from South Africa’s Bushveld complex and minted by Johnson Matthey. The aesthetic value of coins versus bars is subjective and varies depending on your personal preferences. Some investors find the intricate designs and artwork on platinum coins to be visually appealing, while others may prefer the sleek, simple design of platinum bars.

The appearance of your platinum may not be a driving force in your decision whether platinum coins or bars are better for you as an investment – your decision may depend on your investment goals, budget and other factors you may want to consider:

Price: Platinum coins usually carry a higher premium over the spot price than bars due to their collectable value and production costs. Bars are typically sold at a lower premium over spot price, making them a more cost-effective option for some investors.

Size and weight: Platinum bars come in various sizes and weights, ranging from 1 gram to 1 kilogram, while coins are generally smaller and lighter. If you are investing a larger amount of money, bars may be a more practical choice.

Purity: Both platinum coins and bars are usually made from high-purity (.9995%) platinum. Some coins may contain added alloys for durability or design purposes so be sure to check the purity of the platinum before making your purchase. To be eligible for purchase in an IRA, the platinum must be .9995% pure.

Liquidity: Platinum coins are more liquid than bars as they are smaller in size and possess a wider appeal among collectors. This may make them easier to sell if you need to liquidate your investment.

Collector value: Some platinum coins may have additional value due to their rarity or historical significance to collectors. If you are interested in collecting platinum coins, this may be a factor to consider.

The choice between platinum coins and bars comes down to your preferences and goals. If you are looking for a cost-effective way to invest in platinum, bars may be a better option. If you are interested in collecting or are looking for a more liquid investment, coins may be the better choice.

How do I buy platinum?

You can buy physical platinum through a precious metals dealer such as VaultUS Gold. The typical steps involved include:

Determine the type of physical platinum you want to buy – bars or coins.

Compare prices: Compare prices from different dealers to ensure you are getting a fair price for your investment. Be sure to compare shipping costs, payment methods, delivery times as well as mark-ups charged by the dealer.

Place your order: Once you have selected a reputable dealer and decided on the type of platinum you want to buy, you can place your order. Make sure to read the terms and conditions carefully before making your purchase, including return policies and insurance options.

Make payment: Payment methods can vary depending on the dealer, but common options include credit cards, bank wire transfers, or personal checks. Make sure to choose a payment method that is secure and provides protection for your purchase.

Arrange for secure storage: Once you have received your physical platinum, you will need to arrange for storage. You can choose to store it in a bank deposit box, a home safe, or through a third-party storage provider.

If you are purchasing platinum to include in an IRA, there are some additional steps for setting up and funding your IRA or transferring your funds from an existing IRA or 401K.

That is all there is to it and any reputable precious metals dealer will be able to guide you through the process with complete transparency of all costs and full education on the risks and rewards.

Remember: before making any financial decisions, including an investment in platinum, you consider these advantages and disadvantages and consult with a financial advisor or precious metals expert to determine if it’s the right investment for your goals and risk tolerance.

Silver has always been a good investment in the United States. It is a valuable metal and in widespread use not only as physical currency, but in industrial uses in electronics, medical and more recently renewable energy. Many people also collect silver coins, both rare and special issues. These are typically called numismatics and can be a significant and valuable investment.

There are a variety of reasons why silver, along with other precious metals such as gold, platinum and palladium are safe, sound investments. This article will focus on silver and its value as an investment vehicle.

Silver is viewed as a hedge against economic uncertainty.

Like other precious metals, silver is a good hedge against economic uncertainty. When the stock market is declining and inflation soaring or recession looming, people want safer investments. Investing in silver may be a smart choice. Silver has been shown to increase in value during times of inflation. During inflation the cost of goods typically increases as does the cost of production. The demand for silver, which is being used for various purposes in that production rises along with the price.

Silver is affordable to most everyone.

Unlike some of the other precious metals like platinum and palladium, silver is very affordable to the average investor. A basic Canadian Maple Leaf Silver coins can be had for as little as $30.00 and a one-ounce silver bar will typically run around $27.00. This price point not only makes it easier and more affordable to purchase silver, but it makes it easier to sell when it comes time to divest.

Silver is available in a variety of forms from coins to bars or rounds and is relatively easy to buy and sell from a wide array of gold and silver dealers. You can even buy silver coins online. Silver can be also added to a precious metals IRA, a special self-directed IRA that is ideal for investors looking to diversify their retirement portfolio.

Silver is known to retain its value over time.

Silver has been used as currency dating back to the Greeks and Romans and is still popular. Silver coins are in widespread use around the world as a form of money. As with everything, the price will fluctuate depending on demand, but because of silver’s long and pervasive use, it holds its value. It has been shown to remain fairly steady, stable and consistent in value over long periods of time. These attributes make it an attractive option for investors looking to buy silver.

Silver is in demand worldwide

Silver has always had a variety of uses beyond coins and currency. It is one of the most versatile of metals with its uses ranging from silverware to medical devices. It is a strong, malleable and is thought of as the best electrical and thermal conductor of all the metals, so it is in high demand for industrial and technological uses such as:

electrical applications such as conductors, switches, and fuses

ventilators and devices that utilize breathing tubes as silver inhibits the growth of bacteria

fine mesh for catalysts in the chemicals industry

fabrication of photovoltaic cells, more commonly known as solar panels or solar cells

As a result of the expanding usage there is a steady market demand for more silver. This demand equates to a more secure market value for your investment.

Silver is a tangible asset

You can actually hold a physical piece of silver in your hand unlike “holding” stock in a company. It is a tangible asset. Yes, you may have a piece of paper that says you own the stock, but you don’t control the stocks or bonds; their value is driven by the performance of the company or the market which you have zero control over. Owning a stock just doesn’t have the same emotional punch as buying a silver bar and holding it in your hands. That bar is a physical asset that you fully control

Investing in silver is a smart strategy if you are one of the many Americans who are looking to diversify their portfolios and protect their wealth. Silver can be a good hedge against inflationary or unstable times, it is affordable for most any size investor, it is always in demand and that demand is predicted to expand as more industrial and technological uses for silver are discovered. Best of all, it retains its value relatively well, especially when compared to other types of assets.

As always, when you are considering a change in your investment strategy or adding a new type of asset to your portfolio, seek the right advice from your banker, financial advisor, or in this case a precious metals dealer. Be sure you are well informed on the risk and rewards for this type of investment. While silver is typically a stable and reliable investment, its price can be volatile in the short term, and there may be other factors that can impact its value.

Overall, given the benefits outlined above, silver may be a valuable addition to any investment portfolio and may be a smart long-term strategy for investors who are looking to protect and grow their wealth.

Precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum, and palladium come in a variety of forms. If you speak with a precious metals dealer, they may refer to bars, bullion, and coins interchangeably, but there are some differences between them.

Bullion: bullion is a term used to describe any form of pure metal that is traded in bulk, and includes bars, coins and rounds. The term “bullion” is used to describe the weight and purity of the metal, rather than the form it takes.

Bars: bars are rectangular-shaped bars of the precious metal with a specific weight and purity. Bars may come in assorted sizes and weights, typically ranging from 1 gram to 1 kilogram or more. Precious metals bars are often the preferred investment option for those who want to invest in large quantities. They are typically produced by refineries or mints, and the price of a bar is based on their weight and purity. Example of a Platinum bar.

Coins: coins are typically smaller in size and weight than bars and are often minted by government mints. Coins can be bought in different sizes, ranging from 1/10 of an ounce to 1 ounce or more. Coins are often sought after by collectors, as they can have historical or cultural significance. The value of coins is typically based on the weight of the metal they contain, as well as their rarity and condition. Example of a Gold coin.

Rounds: rounds are a form of bullion that are similar to coins but are not legal tender. Rounds are produced by private mints. They are often less expensive than coins and are a popular choice for investors who want to acquire gold or silver at a lower cost. Rounds can be produced with unique designs and themes, which can make them more interesting to collectors, but they can also be more difficult to sell than coins because they are not recognized as legal tender. Example of a Silver round.

In summary, bars, bullion, and coins are all ways to invest in precious metals, but they differ in terms of size, weight, and purity. Bars are typically preferred by those who desire to invest in large quantities of gold, while coins are often sought after by collectors and rounds for investors looking for a lower cost. Bullion is a term used to describe any form of precious that is traded in bulk, regardless of its form.

That seems like an odd question for a Precious Metals dealer to be asking, but there are some fundamental issues with this business that most people aren’t aware of. Our mission and the reason we founded Vaultus Gold is to change the way precious metals are bought and sold to the benefit of people who use metals to diversify and protect their wealth.

Our team has over 30 years experience in the precious metals industry, working for 5 different metals vendors. Years ago, we started in the business with expectations that we could earn a good living and help people protect their savings using precious metals like gold and silver. As we learned the ins and outs of the industry, we realized that the incentive structures of most dealers are 100% in the best interest of the company and are misaligned with what is best for the customer.

We switched firms in the hope that things would be different, only to find each firm operated in a similar fashion. So, we waited, watched, learned, and saved our money. Now we are proud to launch Vaultus Gold, the people’s gold and metals dealer.

Precious metals dealers make money by marking up the cost of the metals they sell. Sounds fair, right? Afterall, any retail store or website does the same. However, in our industry, the average order size is large (can be $50-100k on average and some purchases can be a $1 million or more) and the markups are so high – as much as 35-50% – that the total dollar cost to a consumer can be enormous. Imagine a scenario where you pay $100k for gold and silver, and 40% of that is markup? You paid $100k for $60k worth of metals!

How would that make you feel?

Unfortunately, it happens all the time! To compound the problem, salespeople at the dealers are paid commissions and are incented financially to direct their ‘clients’ to high margin products. They get extra commissions when they sell at the highest markups and are paid less, and generally frowned upon when they sell products at more reasonable markups. The loser in this setup is you.

The Vaultus Gold Difference

Our goal is to change this business. We started by lowering the markup on the metals you buy from us. Our markups are the lowest in the business, enough for us to grow a business and still provide you with the best service. And to further align ourselves with you, we do not have commissioned sales reps! Our metals experts are called Client Success Representatives and they do not get paid commissions. They don’t try to upsell you or talk you into buying something you are not certain of or try to steer you to high margin items. They don’t pressure you to buy from us at all. They are measured by client satisfaction, not in how much of a markup they made on each sale.

Instead, they will ask you questions in order to find the most suitable metals products that fit your return and risk tolerances and align with your reasons for choosing precious metals. We have even built a custom technology – personalized allocation tech (PAT) – that uses historical return data to make unbiased recommendations for our clients.

What a difference working with Vaultus Gold!

Another important goal is to educate you, to help you understand this business and find the right assortment of metals for your portfolio. Your goals and satisfaction are what matters most to us. And we don’t want you to be 50% in the red the minute you make your purchase. We firmly believe that is the best way to gain your trust and business.

Our team focuses on your needs first and foremost.

We started this business to be different than everyone else, to bring a different message and buying experience to our clients. We believe our values and philosophy demonstrate our commitment to that mission.

OUR SPECIAL OFFER

We are so certain of the Vaultus Gold advantage, we are offering special discount “employee” pricing toindividuals who register with us for more information.
