Gold American Eagle Proof

Grade & Mint:

Composition is 91.67% gold, 3% silver, balance copper with a reeded edge. Weight and diameter differs between the one, half, quarter, and tenth ounce sizes.  The coins are minted at the U.S. Mint at West Point bearing the “W” mint mark.

Design:

The obverse features a rendition of Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ full length figure of Lady Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.

The reverse shows, since 2021, a portrait of an eagle.

Each year the U.S. Mint issues collector versions of the American Gold Eagle, referred to as “Proofs”. Every proof coin is handled with meticulous care and struck several times to give it a flawless, mirror-like appearance.  The coins come with a Certificate of Authenticity from the US Mint.
